1. Last week we had a phone call during supper Monday night, asking if they could view the apartment. I set up a viewing for that evening, and after discussing it they called me back (just after I got home again) and said they wanted it! They still have to be approved etc but they were going to meet with the super this weekend, so hopefully I’ll hear something soon.
2. Wednesday DH’s parents left for Blandford. We couldn’t go with them at the time because DH was still working, and since the boat wouldn’t be in yet we decided to stay on his days off, and enjoy the weather here.
That afternoon when it was just me and the baby I took him for a walk up tot he playground with his walker. It was a little slow going, but he made it to the rough part of the path, at which point I carried him the rest of the way. He did want to stop a lot once we got to the grassy part though, because it was full of dandelions etc. And he started to refuse to stand up when he was standing in mud ![]()

3. Thursday morning was DH’s first day off, and also the first nice warm day. (Dhhas been getting lucky, working all the days with rain/clouds, then being off for the beautiful sunny ones). We took baby to get his first life jacket. DMIL had seen one small enough in Walmart the other day, but had wanted us to come back for it (DH hadn’t been along).

We had DH’s friend in tow because we drove him to meet a guy who had found his $800 iPhone, and wanted to return it. There are still decent young people around. Also DH’s friend gave the guy $40 to show his gratitude.
After dropping the friend off and having lunch we went to the public gardens. Nothing says summer to me like walking in the Public Gardens with Italian ice cream from my favorite place downtown. We went to the grassy area, so baby could crawl around, but all he wanted to do for the longest time was play with the stroller.

Eventually he started to explore, I thought he was crawling down further possibly to some pigeons, but he made a last minute change of direction and made a beeline for a guy lying on the grass reading. Baby was not close enough to grab and I couldn’t help but watch to see what would happen.

He crawled over and gave the guy’s hair a little tug.
The guy didn’t seem to mind. He (the baby) did start to get cranky, and since we had the little stroller we’d left the diaper bag – with his bottle so we didn’t stay too much longer.
That night we had barbecued ribs and pasta salad, a perfect summer supper. Then we went to the playground around 8:30 pm because it wasn’t too cold. The day had been warm but the wind at times had been a bit chilly.
4. Thursday night the low was supposed to be 15 degrees, so I knew Friday would be warm. Friday dawned bright and sunny and very warm. It was a beautiful summer morning. DH ate breakfast outside but I had already finished mine so I can’t claim that milestone for the year yet. But I did drink my juice outside. We let the baby crawl around the yard, he loves to be outdoors. DMIL really has a pretty garden, and with it half in the sun half in the shade it made for some glorious photos.

5. Thing was, as nice as it was to be outside, it started to get uncomfortably hot, at least for me. It was most definitely a beach day, so we packed up everything we thought we’d need and headed out.
It seemed to be just as hot at the beach. I had kind of hoped for a cooler breeze, something to combat the heat. We set up the umbrella to keep baby out of the sun, and I sat under it too. DH however wanted to sunbathe, and was content lying out in the hot sun (I don’t know how!). Even under the umbrella I didn’t feel 100%, I think maybe a mild mild case of heatstroke? I just remember feeling out of it most of the day and into the evening, almost as if I were drunk (which I wasn’t!). DH went back and forth between the cold water and lying in the hot sun. The water was just too cold for me though, so I put on wet clothes to cool me off, and felt the best wen I had a cold wet towel on my head.
This was baby’s first real day at the beach. We took him last year but later in the summer and only to take pictures. It wasn’t warm then like it was Friday. We did our best to keep him out of the sun, but we did put sunscreen on him as well. It worked for a while, but then he wanted to see more of the beach… He mostly got carried back and forth to the water with daddy, walked the beach with his walker, and tried to drink sand out of DH’s plastic cup.
6. The beautiful summer weather is reminiscent of 2 years ago, when we had an uncharacteristically warm day in may, and DH then D-Fiance and I went to the beach. It was one of the most perfect days of my life. We actually went in the water that time, but I found it too cold this year. 2 years ago it was comfortably warm for the beach, but not too hot, and when the wind switched to coming off the land it was heavenly. O
7. Of course, I took a multitude of photos. I cleared the camera before we left and I filled the entire card just at the beach that afternoon. It says it holds 794 when you clear it, but really it holds 960 something at least. So, I have been desperately going through those (I had the ones I wiped off the camera beforehand to go through also). I may have to make a separate thread for them.
