1. Rental Camera Commentary
The rental camera was more advanced than I’m used to, I was a bit overwhelmed. Also, it was twice as heavy, and that made it hard to hold it completely steady even when the people I was shooting weren’t moving, some shots came out blurry.
I do think there would have been more missed moments with the other camera, so I guess it was worth it, but I am annoyed at some missed moments that came out blurry, and would have been caught with the good camera (had it been working right).
2. This week the baby was 1 year old! It really is amazing how time flies. It’s hard to believe one year ago we were still in the hospital! We had a party for him on Saturday with cake and rainbow jello, and then we got him an ice cream cake for his actual birthday. We still don’t have a present for him, but I can’t think of much else he needs. We did get him a card.
Here’s some photos from the party:

3. This week also marked the 10th anniversary of my dad’s death. I suppose it gets easier, but it never really goes away.
4. Update on the Apartment — It’s just been one headache after another.
We went to check out the apartment on the weekend, just to make sure it would be in ship shape for the viewing on Monday. It wasn’t. Not only did the painters leave a bit of a mess (I need to wipe off the counters etc) but they also did a lousy job. They did great on the dark rooms for the most part, the ones that were the hardest to cover, but they also got beige paint on the ceilings, left some yellow on the edge of the door frames in the hall and didn’t fully cover the yellow. They even got paint on my application forms that were in the closet, not just drips, there were brush/roller strokes at the top of them!
Needless to say we were very unimpressed, but the head painter guy isn’t back from Ottawa until the middle of the month
In the meantime we’ve had to just show it as is, and hope that it doesn’t turn people away. And it has to be fixed before we can let someone take over and officially leave. Right now we’d be charged damages etc, because it’s not up to par. If the other renters were coming I don’t know what we would have done, we paid the guys to leave it renter-ready!
But, at least we have our renters. The super called yesterday with the news.
5. We drove down to Blandford for a day and a half this week. It was nice to get some time to ourselves and it’s so peaceful out there. A few weeks back we bought the baby a life jacket, and this was his first time using it, as we took him on his first proper boat ride (where he could see and wasn’t in his carseat the entire time). He wasn’t a fan of the life jacket as he can’t even sit up let alone crawl when he’s wearing it, but he seemed to like the boat ride itself. Here’s a few photos:
6. This week I had my ultrasound. I’ve had a real hard time getting excited about this baby, probably because this wasn’t planned, but we saw the head and arm so clearly that I definitely had a moment, and I think things have gotten a little better, I have some peace about it. We also had the nicest technician, and if it was an option, I would request her from now on. Also, I have to go back because things were positioned in such a way that she couldn’t check something, so I have a second ultrasound at 32 weeks. Since they limited the support people to 1 my mom came the other day, but DH will be coming with me for the other one.
7. I took my camera in to the shop to send it away today. The guy said it would be 4-6 WEEKS. I am not a happy camper.
