1. Last Friday evening baby and I went over to a friend’s house for a visit. I’d been annoyed at myself for not inviting more than 2 of my friends to baby’s birthday party, when these people had been to visit us in hospital. For some reason it just never occurred to me, and as I hadn’t seen some since, I decided it was time to fix that. There’s still another 3-4 I would really like to get together with but so far it seems we’re all just plain busy.
We got there a bit early so we went to the playground down the road to kill some time and as we were walking back my friend met us on the way. We had a nice visit: We got to catch up with each other’s lives – she now has a steady bf, although he’s been away for most of the summer – and I got to tell her about moving and that gasp, the baby was going to be a big brother! We had spaghetti and my favorite greek salad for supper, and baby ate very well. So did I of course, yum yum. My friend’s father’s greek salad is one of my all time favorite foods and this time was no exception, although there was a new twist, now they also put pieces of apple in. It was still delicious.

After supper the baby got his first turn at a piano, and later my friend’s mom got out her guitar and we sat outside singing (her parents run a local kids band).

My friend and I also went for a walk with the baby back down to the playground, where she and the baby played in the mini water park area – she had been too warm all day so didn’t mind getting a little wet, I stayed back from the spray and took photos.

2. We never ended up going to the Citadel Hill concert either. We were both up too late the night before and just didn’t have all that much energy. It was also hot and sunny, not my ideal concert weather THIS summer, as I’ve discovered I burn more easily than the baby, even when I put on sunscreen, cover up and stay out of the sun! Instead we went swimming at DH’s grandparents pool again, and this time they came in too.

3. This week my mom and brother were away at the cottage so over the weekend I had to go take care of the cats. Here is a picture from the yard one such sunny evening, and one when I got back home.

4. I had my 7 month check up on tuesday. We brought the baby along again. He was pretty well behaved, sat looking at a book and then in the office of course he got to exploring. We let him play with the little reflex hammer and one other similar device that was made entirely of metal and responded like a tuning fork when struck. Baby had a lovely time sitting there repeatedly dropping it on the floor to hear the sound.

5. I finally took another one of the steps towards having this baby, I called the doula place. I had a great experience with my last doula and would have simply requested her services gain, but she had a baby after I did and is not fully back to work. The other baby steps I really foresee or would like to accomplish besides getting out all the tiny clothes is to sit down and discuss names, I don’t think either of us have given this one much thought yet, and to work on the baby’s baby book, before I have a new one to fill out. I hate writing things in in pen for fear of messing up so I have been typing things as they happened, but it won’t be the same if it never gets filled out, and I don’t want that to happen.

6. DH went to the dentist on Thursday evening and along with the routine cleaning etc, they decided one of his wisdom teeth needed to come out. They didn’t exactly give him a choice in the matter, only asked him whether he’d prefer they do it now or to come back in a week, so he said go ahead. Maybe it’s because it was only one, but he says the pain really wasn’t that bad. Unless of course it gets worse after a few days, but that doesn’t make much sense.
7.

Baby has found his oof. (DH doesn’t like me calling it that but Oof was my favorite toy growing up and anyone who knows me would understand, he just didn’t know me when I was that young). Baby’s oof is the pillow Nanna got him when he kept taking grandpa’s little pillow (Baby has a thing with pillows). We found it at Value Village.

I know that it is his special babyhood thing now. The other night when we played cards she brought it downstairs with him to hold on to, and ‘just now’ he crawled into the room with it, having taken it out of the crib himself.
