I realized my first 2 quick takes had gotten far too long and was forced to come up with some new ones. Pictures should follow shortly.
1. I am writing this at the hospital as I wait for a consultation on my foot. The lady who checked me in said it wouldn’t be too long (whatever she thinks that means) but according to the people here they are at least an hour behind. That is fine by me. I brought the laptop and made sure I had 5 posts and lots of photos I could work on. I am enjoying the uninterrupted time without a toddler trying to bang on the keyboard. Actually, a little while ago they offered to move me to the casting room to wait on a bed etc and said the wait time would be shorter. I was happy so I declined. Hopefully, someone else who has been waiting a long time will benefit from that decision.
2. I decided last week that I’d much rather have a broken foot than a broken camera. Having had both in the span of a week I think I can make an informed decision. At least with broken foot I can still take pictures and a broken foot is more of an act of God and thus easier to accept. My Mom also pointed out that a broken foot fixes itself… Yet another reason a broken foot is far superior.

3. I mentioned I brought the laptop with me today.

The lovely little blue netbook has been my friend this week. I haven’t had quite as much time to use it uninterrupted as I had hoped, but I still have managed to get 2 or 3 backlog posts up, and counting. I’m really hoping I can catch up on the other 7 or 8 over the next X weeks, as well as a backlog of some 2000+ photos. As for the blog posts, some of them still require me to type up pencil notes before I can begin to write them… Deep breath, trust that God knows what he’s doing in the time he gives me to work on it and the time when he doesn’t, and just take it one bite of the elephant at a time.
4. On Sunday we went to church ‘as usual’. My mom came over a little early to help get everyone ready (because I’m a lot slower doing things at present). It was 10:25 when I made it downstairs and the cut off for eating is 10:30 so I had a quick breakfast of a bowl of cereal and my toddler’s juice from his sippy cup because it was quicker than pouring a glass, and my 2 year old at his breakfast of toast and juice in the car on the way. . It always feels like a circus getting everyone to church (the 3 adults divide up what needs to be done: 1 gets baby, 1 gets toddler and 1 gets the diaper bag) but this week we were down a player, and had an additional ‘kid’, me. Between the 2 year old, baby and my broken leg we were indeed a three ring circus arriving at church.
5. My 2 year-old has become more trouble recently. It’s hard to tell if it’s because he’s officially 2 now or if it’s something else but we THINK it’s all been since I broke my foot. We think he’s acting out more because he’s not getting as much attention… poor kid. I can’t wait to start really moving around again. In 2 weeks I can start walking on the boot brace
6. On Wednesday we braved the mall to go to Toys R Us. I held the 2 kids in my lap and DH pushed the wheel chair. Our system was all fine and good, until we bought stuff! Then we had to reorganize everything. Sitting in the wheelchair I had to either push the cart in front of me or hang on while DH pulled it. In the end DH pushed me in the wheelchair and I pushed all our stuff and the baby in the shopping cart (which he loved riding in) with my 2 year old on my lap. We were a mighty convoy trucking through the mall!

We picked up a birthday present for a 1 year old, returned the microwave we’d had for my 2 year old for xmas and picked out a replacement presents for that and a present for him from my best friend who’d given me a check. Well that was the plan anyway… But a lot of the play food stuff I was thinking of getting him was on sale for half price, so instead of buying one thing I bought three (a big thing of deli food mostly sandwiches, a toaster and a Velcro pizza pie set he can cut apart) and DH got him a big tonka excavator (which so far DH has largely been the only one using. It has been funny to see how much he has wanted to go out to the garden and dig in the dirt with the tonka trucks. DMIL said he’s reliving his childhood. Exactly, that’s what I’m doing with the play kitchen

7. DH has just taken off with a friend for the weekend. They are going biking in Northern NB. I’m going to miss him for sure but it wasn’t too hard to let him go. I’ve gone away for 2 days 3 times now for retreats and this is the first time he’s gone away without me so it’s only fair. Hopefully he won’t bring a second broken bone into the house!!!

oh goodness, babies in boxes! TOO cute!!!
