I’m late getting the Quick Takes up this week, we came back from the country late Friday night and DH has been working since, not to mention I had a midterm due Friday as well.
1. Last Friday the doctor at the hospital prescribed a cast boot for my foot. My DMIL was telling me it is something they’ve come out with in the last few years, and they believe it is a better alternative to a full blown cast. She sounded a bit skeptical and for a while I was too, because it was really uncomfortable. Then, a few days later I put a sock on my foot and it felt a hundred times better. Furthermore it is not itchy and YOU CAN TAKE IT OFF allowing you to shower or even go swimming. I have been able to put weight on the heel so I’ve been working to get those muscles back (it felt soo weird when the cast was off at the hospital!) And in a week I can start walking on it proper (with the boot). In conclusion, yes it is a MUCH better alternative.

2. I was able to get the cast boot largely because of insurance. Sure we could swing the extra $125 if we wanted, but it is much better not to pay anything for it, and bill DH’s work insurance instead (or rather have them reimburse us). This month/summer that insurance has been especially useful as I also had two dentist appointments and will be getting my wisdom teeth out in august.
3. The baby is really REALLY wanting to crawl. I’ve seen him rock on all fours a few times and he tries to crawl from a sitting position as well. Also sometimes he is on his tummy and gets mad because he can’t move. He scoots backwards just fine which doesn’t help when the thing he wants is in front of him. He scooted across the room, under the table and underneath a chair yesterday evening. I’m beginning to wonder if in fact the baby will be mobile BEFORE I’m mobile! I will be able to start walking on my boot on Friday, so help us if the baby gets crawling before then!
4. Last Sunday our priest said his final Mass with us. I remember I didn’t really like him when he first came, I was disappointed to see the other priest go, the one who had been there since I started attending Mass. However, over the year he’s been with us we all have fallen in love with him. He’s the one who moved the manger scene in front of the altar and brought in a real Christmas tree. He baptized my second son and his homilies were heartfelt and real. We will all miss him very much!

I just had to get a photo of him holding the baby. I have a lovely one of the other priest holding my first son after his baptism, and I wanted the same for my second son as well (you know what they say about all successive children being in less photos than their older sibling).

5. This week we had a new member join our family! Welcome Gavin Patrick Burnett! We can’t wait to meet you!

6. This week I finally filled my 8 Gb memory chip. I’m now running on a 4 which n the past would have been plenty but the photos on the new camera are bigger and I have such a backlog my available photo space is dwindling! I am behind on blog posts too, but the photos seem more pressing at present.
7. My 7th post got too long, so instead here are some nature photos. This was my walk each morning to my psyc class.
